Jonima family

Jonima family was a noble Albanian family from northern Albania that is often mentioned in the 13th through the 15th century AD in contemporary documents. A member of family is mentioned in the early 13th century as a vassal of Dhimitër Progoni in the Principality of Arbër.[1] Another member of the family, Vladislav Jonima is mentioned in sources with the title of Župan. A catholic, he was acknowledged by the Pope as a ruler of a territory around Lezhë in 1319. This feudal family reappears in sources at the end of 14th century, when we see one of the most notorious members of this family Dhimitër Jonima as lord of a territory between Mat and Lezhë.[2] They are linked with the Zaharia family and the Dushmani family.[3]
